About

Want to hear about what it takes to move from the corporate 9 to 5 grind to the full time professional poker grind?  I honestly hope this blog accomplishes that, but at this point the journey is as new for me as it is for you.

After 6 years working as an engineer, I finally pulled the plug and became self-employed for the first time.  I've dreamt  about becoming a professional poker player for most of the time that I've been employed, but the draw for me has mainly been the independence rather than the "job" itself.  I've loved the idea of being able to set my own hours, and most importantly, the ability to make a living doing what I already love to do.  I've heard the phrase "if you love your work, you'll never work a day in your life" a million times, and I made it my mission to live that dream.  I understand that it's a long shot, and that it's much easier said than done, but fuck it, I'm only young once and opportunities like these don't come around every day.

So here I am, writing this blog and documenting my mission to achieve financial and professional independence.  I can honestly say that I have no idea how this is going to turn out.  I would love to look back on this post one day and laugh at how easy it was to achieve; but something tells me it's not going to be a smooth road.  I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of setbacks and that I'm going to need some outside help along the way.

So what's the point of this blog?  Well, from my perspective, I hope this blog helps keep me accountable for doing the things I promise myself I will do. I also hope it helps me to meet some new people along the way.  But what about you?  Honestly, nothing would make me happier than to turn this blog into a "how to" guide for taking a risk on yourself and trying to make it on your own.  I have no idea what my future will look like but if I am successful then this blog will have some great documentation of the steps I took along the way.

At the very least, I hope to tell some amusing stories.  Let's be honest; I'm going to be around some crazy characters in some unique environments in the upcoming month / years, and if I don't have any good anecdotes from those encounters then I'm doing something wrong.  So I hope you feel compelled to subscribe to this blog and join me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing this space with you in the upcoming future.  Hopefully we can all learn something and be better for it, but if that doesn't happen, I at least hope to be able to share some funny stories with you.
